Yeh like the seat n interior russ, i was thinking you was a bit good at it , i thought that was hankham , i remember from many moons back , bit of storage their
Haha cheers buddy!! Unfortunately I started the interior before I started my apprenticeship....if it was the other way round it would have been a lot easier to do and the finish would be a lot better as I could have used all the machines at work There's always next time tho!! Dare I ask what you were storing down there? Vw related by any chance?
Had the sudden urge for an update.... Unfortunately my interior still isn't finished and I'm currently with out bus! Since it was painted last year I have managed to scratch pretty much every panel on it so its now in the body shop having a few bits sorted and then a re-spray!! On a good note After deciding I wanted to loose my 009 I managed to find a correct single port vacuum advance dizzy. A company called Rage keveronderdelen refurb original parts and Fortunately they had one in stock Along with a matching solex 30pict 2 carb so they are now both In the post on their way to me.....I'm really hoping that will eliminate the crappy flat spot it has at the moment. Time will tell tho I guess! Here's a couple of pics...... Out at our local meet last Thursday! And then waiting inline for a make over on Saturday
While the bus is away Iv been making the most of the garage space! I've finally put the Devon trim round the tables so now I just need to make some legs for them
love everything about this bus . what wheels are they dude ? I take it they are reps 5x112 they look so much more real than the ones I got from midland wheels
Cheers dude, that's really appreciated Yeah they are reps ma man, also from midland wheels via a friend of mine. I didn't buy them detailed tho, they came fully polished and I detailed the black bits myself.
It was like Christmas yesterday..... My newly refurbed 30pict 2 carb and single port distributor arrived The canister is huuge! Just need the bus back from paint so I can test these bad boys out.....
Cheers dude!! It's not to difficult to do but it is time consuming haha. You basically need to mask up everything that isn't going to be black making sure all your lines are even etc. Then Etch up, prime and paint the detailing areas. I have a compressor and spray gun so I used that but the guys in the following link have used rattle cans with good results Here's the link with some photos of the process. Hope it helps. http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=793299
thanks dude .problem with mine is they are already black/polished I reckon i can mask up and sand off the extra black they put up the side of the spokes .
Shes back from the paint shop now!! Definitely looks better, didn't go mad just had the arch lips trimmed off another lick of paint so still wavey (sexy curves) with dents but no scratches for now...... My bumpers were pretty tired and bent so I sourced some straight original bumpers last month and they were also painted at the same time Then last night my mate Jim popped round with his timing light and ended up fitting the new Carb and dizzy! Took it for a spin and it's made a massive difference....no more flat spot so it's so much smoother to drive and more responsive at lower revs. Next job is to fit My new Rev counter and then make a start at earning some money because this bus has well and truly bled me dry!!
A few more pics of the bus out and about over the last few days. We've been exploring and making the most of the good weather!
As always here's another long overdue update!! Pretty much finished my interior now.....it's only taken about 9 months Seats are all done, usb points all hidden in arm rests and wired up, head linings in, table legs and mounts made etc etc etc. Il just post some pics below. Also.... The bus is being featured in the next Hayburner magazine A guy that works near me is a wood turner so he kindly turned me 2 legs out of some hard wood Iv been using for all my interior bits. I then realised I had no where to store them so I made some mounts (same hardwood again) I made them so the legs just screw into them so they look neat and tidy. I also carpeted the floor and made some matching hard wood strips for the edges. As I had some carpet left over I got carried away and done inside the seats as well
