"Beau" (we settled on that name for him, better than "The Beast" moniker his previous custodian used to call him) passed his MOT on Friday 13th. An expensive garage bill for welding the interior wheel arches, sill and other assorted jobs for the MOT but he's now home and we're beginning to get acquainted. He christened the drive with the first drop of oil yesterday after a blast around the block in the hot weather. Any how there is an annoying bonk in the back, noticeable over bumps in the road. Sounds like the engine lid flapping or a spanner bouncing in a forgotten cavity, or the roof struts, or the bumper rattling. but I'm damned if I can find it. I'm wondering if its the shocks or some bushes or something but I would have hoped they might have been picked up on MOT. Everything sounds worse because the back is empty. The fuel pump ticks like a circus drum roll but there is never any crescendo or finale just a constant anticipation of the trepidation and excitement that a drum roll is supposed to announce. Anyhow we will start to put things back together in the hope of having something we can use in time for Techenders to meet you all. Any thoughts on likely culprits for bonking? (And I realise I've set myself up for a thread of innuendo of Carry On proportions)
Can you make it do it by jumping up n down on rear bumper corner , or jack it up and have a wiggle , cv would do it on bends and bumps poss shock abs or as you say something laying somewhere that it shouldn’t , it’s funny how we always seem to find something after an mot , good luck annoying rattles n bonks when you can’t pin point them arnt they .
I admit the title got my attention, I had the "Moderators Button of Doom" primed to cast you and your thread into the outer darkness. Just as well I read on, wasn't it?
Apart from the obvious source of bonking, mine is a strategically placed bit of junk in a cupboard that emulates a wonky shock absorber bush ing.
It’s not your starter or leisure battery clanging about is it - is it / are they firmly secured? Sent from my ZX81 with 16k RAM Pack
This has taken me back to 1982 when a ZX81 arrived at school with wait for it....................................... a 16k ram pack. Remember waiting for it to load a game from the tape, and that sound.....
Has he not just had an MOT ...you would think they would pick that up . Mind you when they passed my transit ...couldn't believe it, had to have a drink.
