It all started in Wales, after attending the funeral of Steve Shaw - one of the founders of Club 80-90 (which I have been a member of since 2003). A few of us didn't want to go straight home, so we went camping We spent Monday night out at Shillito Woods, in between Calver and Sheffield. The other two campervanners had to go off to work/other things Tuesday morning, so luckily I had brought my bike!! I opted for a few miles cylcing along the Pennine Cycleway (goes from Liverpool to Hull) and a stop for a ponsy coffee - yep had the we do an Americano when I asked for a filter coffee . Great tart though. I stopped out a Winscar Reservoir - nice and quiet but no phone signal. Found out I got bitten quite a lot on Monday night!! This guy came out for a cuppa in his very much loved Ford Pop
I was hanckering for some proppa off roading but being on my own usually puts me off doing anything too risky or gruelling BUT I really wanted to cycle up Kinder Scout and attempt Jacobs Ladder too. Anyway, it was a tough slogg up there, a bit of pushing was required but \I got there! Coming down the other side was just awesome!! Took a rest at the bottom, and whilst washing my face in the river I spotted a mole on the opposite bank. Also spotted this, Viking or Devon? Sadly, I had to go home afterwards and got stuck in football traffic most of the way home.
It was the craziest funeral courtegge or convoy I've ever been on. We struggled to keep up with the Hearse on the A483 and the guy in the van in front of me (the colourful T5) went into the side of a Merc 4x4 at a roundabout!!!
