Ha - it wasn't supposed to be - Alex may think I'm always banging on about her height, but as mentioned above, the reason I'm not a huge capri fan (although I would take an RS31000 if someone forced me) is that I think they are too long for me. I prefer smaller cars that I can throw around.
Yeah, got to agree with you there! Having taken the Bay out yesterday I remembered that isn't exactly chuck-able, either
They are superb looking Capri's, the Mk1's look nice. I would, however, prefer the MkIII Zakspeed RS with the wide arches..
Still haven't found my photos of the various rally and hillclimb cars I had, but I have found this one on the internet of my Droopsnoot HPF2300 Firenza rally car, almost certainly at Lindholme airfield, now a prison!
Yes, when you're twenty something it was just a cheap, quick car but you are right, it was a lovely thing and it's one of the very few cars I would have another.
Another legend in the Vauxhall range was the Chevette HSR, same spec motor etc. A lad from Ambergate had one of the genuine ones, he kept it pristine but totalled it on the A6 near Duffield..was a shame
late to this thread, but interested to know if you've watched jonny smith driving a "new" mk2 made in wales: New MST mk1 - ultimate 'Escort' exclusive first drive - YouTube Incredible what they can do these days. I don't have the misty-eyed nostalgia for escorts personally, other than a vague memory of getting a lift to school in one and going sideways in the snow they passed me by - i was only 5 in 1975 so i was more into golf gti's, mk2 although had several mates with fords, but xr3i/ rs etc.
