Hello! I am new to this forum and am a newbie to VW ownership. Started off looking at late bays, then spent some months looking at early T25s…but oh so rusty at the seams! So have come back to looking at late bays I’m going to see one tonight which looks promising looks well cared for and the m-plate matches up with what I can see from photos. I was wondering if there was anyone on here who might happen to be in or near Watford and be up for coming to view with me? I’d be most grateful for a more experienced eye. It’s at 6.30 this evening (Monday). Many thanks, Ruth (equally I could look to change time if that time didn’t suit, or arrange a second viewing at a good time). Cheers.
I do, have just messaged you. I won’t post on a thread until I’ve met the seller in person as the advert photos are just of the clean and tidy parts. I’ll wait and get some photos of the bits I’m not sure of, eg the underneath of the bus and any panels that need attention- I’d rather invite feedback once I’ve got more info including the “behind the scenes” shots!
Looks very nice, but a few photos are not enough detail. Post a link - we've all got one already, nobody is going to pip you to the post. What we like is pointing out faults, over pricing, bad engine installation etc - honestly it's in your interest... but yeah - looks lovely.
That looks nice from the few pictures posted. What is the underneath looking like especially around the jacking points / outriggers ? The chassis rails & crossmembers look to be in good condition
It does look very nice. It's the underneath parts that always tell the main story though.... so if those are as good as the top bits, it looks promising. Fingers crossed! Any photos of 'down below'? Edit: dammit I type too slow, you've beaten me to it!!
Okay, whaddya think?! And here is the advert: https://www.justkampers.com/marketplace/advert/view/id/12704/
Good effort - but none of those photos are the bits that rust - they are mostly found in line with the wheels rather than down the centre so you need to get under and take pics of the sills looking outwards as well as inside the wheel tubs etc. Well spotted, it's refreshing to find someone looking properly. What can we see - that was perhaps a quick paint job to tart it up. Not that this means it's a dog, but - was this brushed in? Maybe it got damaged fitting the window - they are tricky to manoeuvre in place. ...and this is where you should then look inside the engine bay at the other side of those panels to see if they've been part replaced... depending on the price and what you want e.g. a completely unmolested body it's a judgement. Note the bottom part of the seam is wider than the top part - that's because replacement panels aren'y bent so tight at the ends where they meet the next one - it's an annoyance to restorers aiming for perfection.
Does look nice . Converted to a single carb is a negative . Seems pretty solid from pics at least . Check previous MOTs on line
I think it looks nice, the louvre windows need popping out and those rust bubbles addressing (winter project) & whilst they are out, new outer seals on those windows. Whats the mileage like in relation to the service intervals on the engine, has it been looked after? It looks a very tidy bus pretty much ready to go exploring in, especially with the awning!
£19500, looks like a making line to me that pulled when the tape was removed, sprayed with the windows in perhaps? But lets be fair they have all had paint. Looks tidy enough, is £19.5 to rich for a LHD though?
