The other hole to consider is the one in the floor as it will tend to let in cold air. I once found condensation in strange corners led me to a rusted through hole in the floor.
Good point, never spotted that ! Gas drop vent so no longer needed - best tackled from the underside... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I think that one would have to be just covered from the inside as I have welded side pans so can't get to it. It's questionable whether it would make any difference, mind, as there's two more gas drop vents in the bottle cupboard and under the oven.... Might just vinyl over it.... the bit of flooring I laid a couple of months is annoying me as there is a bubble where I didn't stretch it enough by the back seat, so I might do it all again, if I've got the mental strength...
Managed to rip the corner of the lino whilst trying to sort the problem.... ain't that always the way?! So problem inadvertently solved... patched the drop vent hole with an insert of ply (and the extra random hole in the ply that was there for no readily apparent reason) and new flooring ordered. Now to hope it arrives and I have time to lay it before the fridge goes for fitting. Nothing like making things harder for myself
Actually, that is a good point, quite possibly. although, the design of the unit containing the gas hob and grill is such that any gas would actually drop into the cupboard next to it where the gas bottle is stored and which has a vent, rather than below the actual unit.
It should be perfectly fine to seal up then I just thought it was worth mentioning for safety’s sake.
Absolutely! Thank you It was only when I was typing my reply that I remembered the unit has a lip all around and the lowest point is the hole where the gas pipe goes through into the cupboard with the cylinder.
