What is it with Aussies cutting dirty great holes in the side of buses?? Mine had an external gas cupboard with a bloody great door on it! I got a piece welded in as it looked gash!
So due to no more funds and the wife wants a new kitchen (which is being done now) there is no money left for the van - though i do need to get new cushions and curtains and a few other bits door cards etc, which i will try and make myself from a bit of 2mm marine ply
This year I've found a second hand front bumper, which i had powder coated and also we took the dash out and had that powder coated also - i'll get some pictures of that shortly.
I had to get a local engineering firm to manufacture all new struts for mine as well as making new rollers but they had to get a specialist spring manufacturer to fabricate new springs. I couldn't bring myself to photograph the poptop hanging off the back of my van but I did take a few pictures of the damage and the new poptop after repair. The total cost to the insurance company was £4700. Before: During: After:
I just put in a claim and told them what had happened. I asked the insurance company to let my local garage do the work and they agreed no problem. well the local garage didn't even know where to start so I contacted the insurance company again and asked their advice. They put me onto a garage about 30 miles away that they use for all the odd stuff. While my van was in there they had a Bugatti Veyron. a MkII jag and a huge Peterbilt truck cab being repaired. During the repairs, and as the costs for specialist repairs mounted the "We may end up scrapping it" conversation popped up. There were a few nervous weeks when I wondered if I'd ever get my van back at all.
Just shows what's hiding underneath. Hayden at panel Kraft expected the rust so quoted accordingly, so no nasty shocks.
An aircooled dub is like a rubber ball and if you keep the faith it will come bouncing back to you Its year 8 mrs para tells me now Ive still got the faith though and when it comes back Boooooom paras going to go nomadic
So I've had the dash powder coated and refitted, only took around 2hrs to take out and put back in, had to wait four days for the powder coater though As I put it back, I snapped the speedo needle so need to find a needle from somewhere Added some LED lights (Not to the battery light though) And some LED's for the shifter
I fitted standard bulbs to these, (one each end of the perspex and still doesnt work, would it be wired do you think? do you know what fuse this is part of? thanks Bruce
A straight second hand bumper zinc coated and then powder coated white, finished off with chrome bolts and washers
