School House Farm Camping @ Hawkenbury, Kent

  1. Just spent the night at this little site near Staplehurst in Kent. We will be going back again. Spotless toilets and shower, clean and spacious pitches and great site owners. The site is in a hay meadow surrounded by trees and is limited to about 10 pitches.

To top it off there is a small lake for campers only to fish in and to top that, the owners have their own bubble car museum which is not open to the general public.

There is a pub in the local village reached by using footpaths across nearby fields which sells local brews and has a wide menu of food. The ribs are especially good.

Two other bays on the site last night also taking advantage of this great site. BBQs allowed as long as raised off the ground.

  6. What a great place, we just got back. Very peaceful, the museum was great, 20 minutes down the road the steam railway in Tenterden and a first class air show at Headcorn today. Really this site is worth a visit, lovely people and lovely place.

  7. glad you liked it but dont tell anyone else or we wont get in. Was going to go back this weekend but the weather forecast wasnt great so gave it a miss. Typical- rained here for 10 minutes this morning........

  8. Ah you should have come down , the weather was fine.

  9. went back for an overnighter here last night - weather was gorgeous - site only had two other families on it - if you are not a C&C club member then its now £12 a night but still cheap. Shower and toilets were immaculate as always - decent pint at the Hawkenbury Inn as well.

  11. Back to one of our favourite sites for a night yesterday. Weather was brilliant - site was spotless but a bit busier - 5 families last night, it was nearly full!!!!. Lesley has added a fridge and freezer for campers use, and she now has three firepits for hire ( with wood and firelighters) and also has local OS maps available for those who want to wander further afield on foot. Lots of birdlife and rabbits on site as well as the resident chickens and shetland pony. The only disappointing aspect was that the local pub The Hawkenbury appears to have changed owners and the once great grub and beer is no longer so. The food was bland and the range of beers limited. Hey ho, next time we'll BBQ. The bubble car museum is still as great as before and being so, the owners love a VW camper in the field .
