FOR SALE 79 bay Berrol & Pikey the 72 Sprite 400 caravan

  1. It's with a twinge of sadness that the time has come to bid farewell to Berrol and The Pikey as we just do not get the use we once did out of this great combo!!

Those of you that know us from the years gone by will recall some of our adventures as I was an original member of TLB back in the day before the forum went down and had to re-invent itself after losing the old threads!

I'll be elaborating on the thread obviously to include many pics and detail the minimal work required, most of which I will try to complete before the sale so the new owner can continue to enjoy trouble free adventures as we have done. Berrol must be one of the few Vdubs that have never broke down, let us down or even had a glitch over 10 years, which may have just put the mockers on it!!! Apart from running out out peterol on the A14 on the way back from a show but that wasn't her fault!!

Anyhow, here's a few pics for starters and a link to the last thread on here when we gave her some fresh paint!!

I'm not going to lie and as you can see from the thread there is a bit of filler here and there and there will be a bit of work to do to keep her on the road. She is no show model but I won't be expecting show model prices but if you want a reliable, solid camper to enjoy and not worry about a few dings and scratches when you're camping then she may be just the ticket!!

The pikey has had 240v electric hook up fitted and thermostatic tubular heating which works a treat when you've been out and about and want to cozy up for the evening.

The bus is located in Yaxley, Peterborough and the caravan is in storage but I can easily get it collected back to mine should anyone wish to check them out together. It has been off the road for the last year but I will be putting a 12 month MOT on her before selling as I don't think there will be any issue getting this done.

The engine was a VEGE 1600 recon that had 10k on when I bought it and at a guess I'd say we've done about the same (maybe less) in the last 10 years since we've had it. (I'll confirm this in the thread)

Price wise it's always difficult and I have been out of the scene for a year or two but I'd be happy with offers around 10k for both and I have a load of spares I've collected over the years too that I'll gladly throw in. I also have a 70's awning for the caravan and camping accessories galore we could maybe do a deal on so you could end up with the full package to go straight out and about.

Please post or PM me with any queries and I'll help in any way possible as I'm a genuine guy and if you want a chat I'll send out my phone number too via PM,

    All the best,

    Stratts

Cheap if the bus is solid.

  5. All good here mate thanks for the input guys. As is the case mate the twins are now 9 years old and we do so much other stuff with them now that the free weekends we used to have are a distant memory. I also need a new day to day truck and it's pointless getting a loan when I have what is effectively dead money sitting on the drive unused!

I think there will be tears all round when they go as the kids have grown up with them but hey ho life moves on and when they are sunning themselves and playing in a pool in Spain instead of getting wet and cold in Cromer they'll soon forget about the good old days!!
