Nope, in fact once I'd finally managed to muscle the top back onto the van I tried to call the AA but the phone battery was almost flat. Luckily, on a whim, I'd just bought a wind up emergency phone charger from a garage so after 10 minutes stood there winding my phone up I eventually got enough charge to call the AA who told me they only come out to breakdowns, not accidents. I'm almost certain I heard them giggling over the phone when they told me. Eventually, by cutting up one of my sweatshirts and making it into a rope, I could tie the roof to the front seat headrests and drove round to Leigh station car park and went to bed again. The next day I got hold of some ratchet straps and 'proper' string and tied the roof on like a big VW present and drove it 'carefully' home.
I've now installed a buzzer which sounds if I turn the ignition on with the Poptop still up. Unbelievably, despite my traumatic pants experience, I have forgotten to put the top down on three further occasions but my buzzer has saved the day.
Sorry But in my defence, as a photographic chronicler the image must be preserved first. Tis one of the unwritten rules of photojournalism.
Well it's not in the same league as Kevin Carter's photo from Sudan and I doubt you'll be awarded a Pulitzer Prize for it but hopefully your callous lack of empathy for me whilst I was in a terrible situation won't prey on your mind in the long, lonely angst ridden days that lay ahead for you.
Forgot about this one. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/the-moral-of-the-story-is.41708/ Ooooopsie.
I have driven into a car park in the bus and not noticed there was more tarmac on the exit side. Under barrier ok going in.. not OK coming out. Roofrack is slightly raked back now.
