Mains Farm Caravan Site, Kirkoswald

  1. We went here in early April. It's on a sheep farm, and we were there during lambing season. Really friendly farmer (Robert) and family, nice site. Situated on the coast-to-coast route for cyclists, if you're into that sort of thing. They also have bunk rooms for hire as well as the main campsite.

It's a shame we were there in the middle of the gales and the snowstorm - we'd originally intended it to be a stopover on our trip further north, but when our plans had to change because of the weather, Robert was really helpful, giving us a space to store the van for a couple of days, and found room for us in the courtyard (even ran us a line out for our hookup) when we got back, even though it was Easter weekend and he was fully booked.

Very reasonable at £13 a night including hookup. Nice hot showers too.

We'll most probably be going back there for a proper stay, but only when the weather's better!!
