Not sure if this is true or an old wives tale (the company I keep nowadays ) It goes like this, wipers pack up, eat a banananana then use the peel and rub it all over the screen apparently as a get you home, it can bead the water like rainex or simleeear I have never tried this but have heard this from more than one source over the millennia Please let me know if it really works if anyone tries it Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, might be easier to find than rainex
Two questions, 1, are you a Minion (banananana) 2, Is the actual eating of the bananaanananana yourself critical to it working or could you give it to someone who likes them, just asking
1. I see where you is coming from, I like to describe myself more as a munchkin than a Minion. But one of my quay words is bettererer and I think it’s bettererer to be a Munchkin. 2. Unless you have a fetish or whatnot of watching peeps eat a banananana then you might as well scoff it your self. I could roll with that though Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, tother sounds like a miniature onion, not as good mefinks
I have finally managed to track down and buy the only can of 3 in 1 oil in the village. Seriously it has been a helluva mission. Today will do the job as suggested above. Luckily got @nicktuft here to hold my hand while I do it. Will post the result tomorrow, hopefully. (With Nick's brother, George I was trudging the streets looking for oil in bike hire shops, supermarkets, even a garage but came back empty handed. George, who speaks French, said What you need is a 'Quincaillerie'. Just as he was saying that I noticed a shop opposite saying exactly that over the door. In the window were light fittings and trinkets - I'd never have thought to have gone in there. In we went and they had a selection of oils so I got one spray and one with the plastic feeder. )
Been there done that, many years ago while driving MG through France in a heavy rainstorm my wipers packed up, got the passenger to string operate it. When we got home it was a cable/ rod type one the rod snapped near the wiper motor.
Had a look and unfortunately one shaft is seized. The shaft assembly is moving in the body work. Have oiled well we'll see in the morning. Probably have to leave the offending wiper arm off completely and rely on the drivers one. Any suggestions most welcome. @Sick Boy @davidoft
Thanks to everyone for support and advice on this. As Nick says I will set off for home today with one perfectly good wiper, fortunately driver's side, RainX on the other side and fingers crossed. Sunshine and blue skies all the way would be nice - but unlikely.
Just to finish this off. I didn't get sunshine and blue skies - just the opposite but made it back ok with the one wiper. Great idea @nicktuft to do that! Hope you and George are still enjoying all that snow.
I did it in a bay in the 80's. I'd forgotten. It was in heavy snow like Sick Boy's predicament. It was just to help the motor when it jammed though!
Glad you are back safely Loved the blog posts, did you ever find out exactly what happened to Stephanie? Her fella may have said dodgy arm/ankle etc, but I reckon he has topped her! I think @Bhubesi has had his bus longer than nick tufts 24 years. @Dicky may have as well? @nicktuft 's 24 years ownership is very impressive. I know I only look about 29, but i've owned my bus for about 21 years. I was an early starter and got it when I was 8!
