A complete diversionary tactic to gloss over the fact that the EU aren't going to give us special privelages post brexit with regard to financial services! That was the actual news from yesterday's meeting, not that you'd know it
I`ll just reiterate my original point ... We`re paying for these clowns to come up with ideas to move this country forwards and this is the best they can do - SERIOUSLY ?? D`ya think the French would tolerate such a stupid Forrin secretary / future pm ?? We are indeed becoming the laughing stock of Europe
Was in French bar last night and T M came on the news. General attitude of apathy towards her..She did not come over very well and doesn't speak French. It was very interesting to see her in a different light.
Vince Cable was speaking on radio2 about Carillion and he was very blunt and said the government doesn't have any ministers with business or project management skills anymore and so they are no good at negotiating large projects with the likes of Carillion. So they dish out billions of our pounds to dodgy private sector firms and it seems knowingly that Carillion were struggling financially. These sorts of firms are just a shell with no assets, bit like the property firm hoping to build a new estate near where I live. They rely on selling houses elsewhere and with that money they buy another patch of land, pay contractors and sub contractors to do all the work. Nothing is done by the developer at all. They plan to build a few houses, sell them and with the profit, to build a few more. They don't build them all at once as that lowers the selling price. I am really learning about the risks behind homes development. With Carillion gone bust I feel sorry for their employees (not the fat cats) and all the various contractors, subs, supply chain folks, all going to suffer. On the radio2 phone in an ex employee of Carillion spoke about his future pension being slashed and worse still the company persuaded him to make additional pension contributions to his fund, which it seems they used his money and his fund is slashed. It stinks.
Boris, ha she got a things abut 'B's? Boris Bikes, Boris Buses and now a Boris Bridge - oh hang on, he's had one of those already, that wonderful waste of public money - the Garden Bridge.
Cable just spouts a load of stuff to stir the Marmite more, he's really no better than the rest, he's certainly no businessman a quick read of his CV shows that. PFI was a conservative initiative condemned by the labour party until Blair came into power who then drove it forward as a way to improve infrastructure. The trouble is buy doing so many skills have gone out of the public sector. I cant see a bridge being built who is going to fund it, certainly not our French neighbours.
Well, let's face it, apart from urinating in shop doorways, the French are pretty apathetic about everything... Pffft!
You Pommies used to be pretty good at it in the 70's and 80's. Yet another thing that Britain no longer leads the world in.
