Trim/headiner material - any recommendations ??

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lasty, Jun 17, 2018.

  1. I`ll be trimming the old dear shortly and wondered if anyone could recommend a good off white stretchy material ??
It`ll be used for below the roof bed rails , around the windows down to a couple of inches below the window seals . I`ve got a converted panel van which are notoriously difficult to get a decent finish around the windows , hence the stretchy-ness ....

Anyone used anything other than the normal perforated headliner stuff ??

    Cheers in advance ...

  2. Do you not like perforated? Woolies sell (or used to) material that's almost a match for the original VW stuff.

I used four way stretch carpet glued round my panel van windows - it’s made for this type of thing and looks ok and no doubt someone with a little bit more patience ( I have none) could make it look spot on

  7. Very tidy!

  8. Looks good but isn't it going to make your window rubbers leak?

  12. I hope not
It's thin stuff so it went under the rubbers no problem.
    Time will tell ;)

  13. Doesn’t unperforated vinyl create a condensation trap?

I think you should use a nice shagpile, preferably in a nice orange or dark brown.

  16. It's just I thought the rubber had to be a good tight fit against the metal, but then I know very little:oops:
