Lovely quiet and very small site right in the centre of the village. We were the only ones there last night. Even the owners were away all weekend and just left us a note to say welcome and what pitch number to use.

The village looks lovely; lucky you could just squeeze onto that little pitch.:)

I guess it’s a bit late in the season and the weather forecast was poor so we basically had our own private site with our own shower block

Another great attraction to this site (for some) is it backs on to Mathewsons classic car auction rooms. They have a few outbuildings and a showroom rammed with old cars and junk. Recently shown on the tv show “bangers and cash “. Got lost in there on Sunday morning for a couple of hours.

Also, about a mile towards Pickering is the Cedar Barn farm shop. Great place for fresh local produce!

Looks nice, much prefer them like this than the suburban looking sites.

Eden Camp near also near - excellent visit for war memorabilia

Went to Eden camp a few years ago. Great day out. Well set out telling the story of war in order. Quite emotional at the end

  10. Stayed on another site in Thornton a couple of years ago. Again a lovely site. Great little village couple of nice pubs. Easy walks to Pickering or into the forest. Also bus route to Whitby/Scarborough if you want to leave the van on site. Good base for the North York moors area

Totally agree, had a couple of beers in the New Inn and Sunday lunch in The Buck also with one or two beers. Great food and service. The chippy there is also very good. New owner only been there three months.

  12. Looks like a decent site, and only 1.5h away from me, defiantly for next summer
