  1. Another check to see if it still fits.

  2. Speakers finally arrived today. Some nice 4" 100w jobbies to replace the 3w (yes a massive three watts) ones that were in the pods so i fitted them to the shelf and fitted it in the car.

  3. Cheers. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Still got enough ply and vinyl to make another too.

Pants weather today so didn't brave the garage but the black vinyl i ordered arrived this morning so i covered the front parcel shelf i made. Theres a few wrinkles in it but its not turned out too bad. I still need to make a few mounting brackets for it.

  4. Weather is gusty but dry up here so i'm gonna see if i can get the under dash shelf bolted in this afternoon. I think a small bracket on each side into the A pillar and a couple into the top double skinned part of the front bulkhead at the height of the steering column should do.

Always check a seller's feedback if you need stuff urgently from eBay. Almost all stuff I first look at says UK stock but when feedback is checked out it often clear to see from disgruntled customers that the stuff takes weeks to come and turns out to come from China in about four weeks .

I find that the site Banggood (steady Mr Haynes) although it's clearly in China , stuff gets here quicker than eBay for some reason . It tells you where stock is and you can choose a Europe seller . Give it a look

  6. I've never heard of that site before. I've ordered stuff from Wish before and some of those items arrived pretty quickly.

Mounted a few brackets to the bulkhead and A pillars and fitted the under dash shelf.

  7. Even the manuals and Peter Noad's tuning book are nearly 50 years old now. :)

  8. Checked the tyre pressures today and they were all 10psi or more down. All new tyres and valves and refurbed alloys. Any ideas?

Opened the glovebox to pull the bonnet release so i could check the spare and the glove box lock exploded. Another £20 part to replace.

  10. I find myself looking at these CC Easy and CC Speed trailer tents to tow behind my bug. 400kg max weight and 250 empty. They're only £200-250 and better than a tent.

  11. Turns out the roll pin that holds the glove box lock together went AWOL and i can't find it. Managed to find the tiny spring 10ft away and gonna glue the end of a drill bit into the rollpin hole then cut off the excess.

  12. I looked around and couldn't find anything like those trailers at those prices here in Merica. Would work great behind my bug or Harley.

  13. They're made by the Danish firm Combi Camp. Not that easy to find in the UK but i've found a few on Facebook marketplace within a couple of hours drive away. I've seen one being pulled by a Honda Goldwing and it seemed to cope well enough.

  15. Gonna fit some white stripes to the lower portion of the doors and rear 1/4s. Narrowed the choices down to these three.
A is like the type fitted to MK1 Golf GTi (of the Oettinger beetle cabrios if the thin stripe was on top)
B is Formula Vee style stripe
C is a little like the ones used on Big beetle special editions.
    Choices, choices, choices.

A for me! C looks a little too chunky.

    A or B

    agree with James about c

  18. Thats the conclusion i came to aswell. I've also seen a few bugs with Formula Vee stripes (B) so might go for the GTi style. Plus its a lot easier to get 2 stripes aligned than 3. ;)
