Just Back From Chertsey

  1. Fancied a stay here as it supposed to be one of the flagship sites for the C&CC plus it was close to the river and not far from Chessington which we had promised the kids we would take them to. First impression, this is a well run site, security keypad to enter, large shower block and games room, small shop in reception and separate information booth. We were escorted to a nice large pitch right by the river:

Neighbours were close but not too close for comfort. Pegs along the campsite for fishing varied from overhanging trees to sparse concrete steps but we were always able to find a spot and for just £3 a day both Dexter and I could waste our time attempting to coax fish out of their natural habitat with just a few maggots. The river is pretty quiet here as there is a weir with a lock on the far side meaning we had no river traffic at all.

There were rabbits all over the place at night and early morning as well as ducks and squirrels and we spotted loads of birds including a few Herons however there were some downsides of pitching underneath the large mature trees:

There were plenty of showers and toilets but weirdly there were even more cubicles with just sinks in them? Good mix of Caravans, Campers and tents and walking distance to 2 pubs although one should be classed as a restaurant imho.

Flashing lights on the roof rack and blue neons behind the front bumper.

This one had just driven from Wales:

Never saw anyone from this one:

Overall we would stay here again although I wouldn't say it was any better than some of the other large C&CC sites we have stayed at, good for visiting Thorpe Park & Chessington although if the wind blows in the wrong direction instead of just hearing the water flow over the weir you get the dulcet tones of the traffic on the nearby M25.

  2. Just spent a few days at the Chertsey C & CC site. Really clean and tidy site. Great base for visiting London and going to the theme parks such as Thorpe park and Legoland Windsor.
