Starting to get the ol’ lawnmower engine ready to go back in the van. It’s just getting a tidy up and I’m reinstating some of the bits that were missing or wrong. Thus far I’ve started to degrease the block, have fitted the cooling flaps to the fan housing (these were completely missing): and reattached the fan to the alternator and bolted into the fan housing.
So which supplier sells the rear engine hanger rubbers that actually fit?! I bought these ages ago and they’re miles out of alignment with the holes in the bar ( old ones had next to no rubber left on them). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You'd think it wouldn't be that difficult for the manufacturers to get this right?! Looks like they just guessed the dimensions.
And yet continue to sell 'em. I had a whinge at cool air a while back about the battery cable I bought off them not looking like the one advertised, it only has a short lead that you need to attach to another across to the alternator (the description is partially wrong too). This is what I was expecting;
Ups and downs tonight. Managed to get the rear engine support rubbers to fit with help from the “great persuader” Started colour sanding the front panel however through a combination of the clearcoat going on too dry and only putting two coats on, I’ve managed to sand down to the clear oh well. Guess I’ll be learning how to correct paint mistakes now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Take the screen back out, flat the whole front down, mask up and try a little bit first just to make sure there's no reaction, then hit the front again with clear.
It’s only the bottom blue bit so I’ll just mask off that bit. Is it ok just to hit it with clear then? Don’t need to put any base over the area? I’m fitting a wheel carrier to the front ( yet to be built) so not the end of the world if the area isn’t perfectly blended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you haven't cut right back past the Base it should be okay. If you can do a local repair with some clear there's a fair chance you can flat out and polish the edge away, like a smart repair.
Bit more paint work polished. This is the unpolished O/S corner straight out of the gun for comparison: And the N/S which has been polished: Got the rear light cluster back in too:
