    I've found my air leak
I thought these rubbers were gray but the PO has wrapped them in gray insulation tape.
Probably because he's knackered the manifold nuts.
Any ideas guys how to get them off?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. That's not uncommon on those nuts.
Heat, releasing oil and a multi spline socket might work. Are the joins leeking for sure

Managed to get the nut off tapping it around with an old screwdriver

    Hi all
Do I stick with the metal gaskets or use the empi ones?[IMG][IMG]

  8. I had to use the fibre ones on my type 1 as it's been ported and trimming metal isn't an option... anyways my point is, despite Empi's reputation, they've been fine.

  9. Yep, use the Empi ones. They’re not bad, and better than those horrible pressed things.

  10. Not a lot they can get wrong with fiber gaskets tbh

There is also the EMPI thing where they resell a load of generic rubbish in blister packs but some parts like their cylinder heads are really quite good..

  13. Ha!! I used an Empi carb rebuild kit on my twin Solexes and I couldn't get the tops to seal using the supplied gaskets, they appeared to absorb petrol:eek: I bought some proper gasket paper and cut my own.
