Backfire

  1. If it's genuinely backfiring in the exhaust, I'd check your ignition as a first step.

Careful using the strobe light Bazza.
You know what happened last time you saw it flash - you came over all "John Travolta" like in the middle of the high street but instead of your jacket spinning round your head was your 3 day old "Y" Fronts!

Don't upset him, he's supposed to be going fishing.

Fit some new points and a condenser to eliminate these from possibly being faulty.

Sorry to hear that Bazza, hope it was nothing to do with your cleaning up.

Too late. You have it now and it must be near your bedtime too!!!!:D:D:D

  10. Way back, my trusty mutt was sitting watching me fit my old Pertronix. I'd got the ignition timing hopelessly wrong, and the van let out the mother of all backfires.

Surprising how fast a border collie can move. I reckon she did 0 - 60mph in about 3 seconds. You can still see her claw marks in the tarmac...

  12. Love how when they set off the back legs try to overtake their front ones!

Did that with a rusty EMPI exhaust but no dog.. but about a second later I heard a "ting" noise as a bit of silencer landed. Never did find it. But there was a 10cm square hole in the silencer that was not there before.

Yes it was the float levels, I reset them and the backfiring is no more:thumbsup:

It was recommended that I set them at 7mm but it still backfired so I set them at 9mm and it ran as sweet as a nut:thumbsup:

Good luck don’t forget to check the float valves, if they are scored at all change them,
