Beetle speedo in a latebay?

looking at adding and moving some
gauges about on the dash and thought about a beetle speedo with the inbuilt fuel gauge,mainly so I can move it over and fit some extra 52mm gauges.fitting a different sender for the fuel is fine but in terms of the speedo working is the cable fitting the same? Looking a pics they look similar just wondered if it’s a done thing or if people have gone down a different route ?

Most people fit gauges in a bracket along the bottom edge of the dash.
Otherwise why not change the fuel gauge to a 52mm gauge in your new cluster on the dash and keep the bus speedo?

These are 1.3 inch OLED screens fitted where many people fit gauges.

 

Not sure about the cable, but don't forget the speedo will be calibrated for a Beetle, not a van.

 

It will work fine......provided you are running the beetle size wheels.

My bay has the fuel gauge in the speedo? Can you not source a similar bay speedo?

ive got a beetle speedo in the garage ill take a look, think they are bigger than bay ones, maybe a type 3 one is more suitable

In my head I was thinking along the lines of a custom Cluster, housing a nice size speedo,integrated fuel gauge in the speedo would be a bonus, and then some other 52mm gauges around it.So if the beetle one works with a bay speedo cable that would be a bonus !

 

For nice looking vintage options have a look at triumph dolemite or stag.
