You are so French now mick! You e even got a French bike :)

  9. You liked that post :D it must have got stuck in your head...:D

anyway day one (nightime) I drove to cantal region of france ,salers is where I went last year ,because I have been training on flat roads i needed to "test" my legs...

The plan was to do pas de payroll ,it has a ramp of 15-20% and is hard ,I arrived at 2.30 am and parked at the bottom of the col de neronne ,got up at 7 am and started the climb...Just in case I had half a box of cookie crunch tuesday_wildchild,so struggled up neronne ,the did pas de Payroll ,I felt particularly good so decided to do a loup of col de perthus ,bruel, legal and st georges:eek:...

    But I did take lunch...

tbh when I got back to the van I was hanging....So the plan was drive to Annecy that evening...

There is a cycle path all the way around ,the lake is beautiful and scenery ,but is far too busy for me ,so just a day cycling round the lake and climbing a few cols was enough for moi...

my map did not have the big climbs I wanted to do , so phoned my daughter to google Alpe d'huez, apperently I was in the wrong region...

That is my lack of planning...tuesday_wildchild

So I set off down towards Grenoble ,it was about 5 ish , i noticed I sign saying col la crochette ,decided just to bike up that ,it was quite hard ...

Carried on driving although it was getting dark ,in the end I have to sleep at la supermarche...

Not the best place to wake up and have a pee

  10. I told @Ploptop2 I hated driving ,but driving through central france and seeing things like this made me change to driving early evenings and a bit of night ,opposed to driving at nights...

I even cleaned the bugs off my windscreen...:D

I also think no matter where I drive there will always be somewhere to sleep, even a grotty supermarket.

  12. tbh mate about a hour after i decided to throw my sat nav in the back ,it kept taking me off the b roads into little crappy roads ,it was near Saint Etienne...:hattip:

In fact , I turned up at the wrong lake....:D

    but that's adventure for you....:hattip:

  13. a great but tiring adventure..

  14. I an't finished yet...:p

So I decided the head for sechilienna ,a bit of a mouth full but it had two wiggly lines running from the village...

I thought I will do the little one ,but all the cyclists passing me were doing the other ,like a sheep i followed  ,at the foot it said col de morte (mountain of dead :D) it also said 17km which is quite a long way ...

I noticed half way up a side road with a bike saying to the lakes (in French)another adventure ,on the top i was a little disapointed the last km was 2.2% I saved up for a 10% er ,I noticed a car park ,on the sign said 5 euro a night a 22cent tourist tax ,it has a shower and hook up ,I went to the tourist info and got a may with all the bike routes ,so decided to do the 60k route and fetch the camper and spend the night...(just for the shower;))

After i fetched the van I decided to go up higher ,the views were excellent...

  15. Col de neronne
    Pas de payroll
    Col de perthus
    Col de Bruel
    Col de legal
    Col de St. George's
    Col de forclays
    Col de couchette
    Col de mort
    Col de malissol
    Col de croix de fer
    Col de sabot (hardest)
    Col de couard
    Alp d'huet
    Col pas de la confession
    Col de ornon
Col de solude (tres hard as well)

I did a list of hills I did...

My highlights was overtaking 17 wannabie cyclists with their expensive bikes on the croix de fer and getting 71 kmp on a mobile speed camera ,decending from couard..

I did the vtt route coming down solude ,it had over 50 hairpins in the wood and I went over my handlebars twice ,but it was my last day...:D

The t25 clocked 1890 km had hot brakes , but ran faultless...

I spent 5.22 on a campsite and bought 12 eggs (tightarse) ,the rest of the food i nicked from our house...

    anyway a few more photos...
