Custom made twin centre exit exhaust fits type 4 with USA triangle flanges. Virtually new, ran this on my bus for a few months but gone back to my old system as it’s a bit quieter. too heavy to post but happy for you to arrange your own courier if needed, pick up oxford or andover. £350
more pics on my thread if you're interested: Winnie the Poo (update: exhaust, again.. | Page 21 | The Late Bay Last time i looked there were no suppliers with any stock left of the "pacesetter" type 4 exhaust so that means if you have a triangle flange exhaust the only option now for an off-the-shelf system is the horrible empi that rusts even before you've finished installing it.. or get a custom system made. Or buy mine
its a bit louder than my pacesetter, but not that much. its a nice rorty sound imo and if the bus was just for me alone i'd keep it.. but .. it can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable taking the family on long drives in a noisy hot 40 year old bus, so i need to do whatever i can to make it as quiet/ comfortable as possible, hence why i've swapped back. tbh normal cruising speed its not noticable at all. around villages/ low speeds though yes its louder.
still available. £200 bargain. buy this for your self, put it under the tree with a label that says "from santa". deny all knowledge.
No problem, thanks for letting me know. My EMPI has finally rusted through and looking at options to replace.
I have a pacesetter on mine, like this one: https://www.pelicanparts.com/byv-volkswagen/b-pacesetter/c-exhaust Part#: 071-251-053-CK-INT I got it ceramic coated which is helping to preserve it very well. Not cheap but worth doing IMO. Check out on thesamba - folks who have not coated it report that the paint falls off so you'll need to do something to protect it. Its way better quality than the empi btw. I did read somewhere that these are no longer in production so hopefully you can still find one. EMPI is total rubbish - don't waste your money. Not much choice for the triangle flange h/ex models. Ahnendorp make an exhaust for triangle flange but very expensive - https://www.ahnendorp.com/VW-Type-4...FAk3BaGe2P6ng2UHNFL5PXcYGlqK9FDLwLlFX0cAdEgS8 Only other option really is to swap to euro style heat exchangers with the rectangular flange which then gives you more options for exhaust (e.g. vintage speed, stock etc)
