WANTED Damaged/Seized 1600 engine.

Evening.
I'm looking to pick up a straight 16o0 Bus engine. I'm a visual learner and I can't get my head around some of the descriptions and concepts in the books and manuals. My thought process is that if i have an old cream crackered block in my garage i can strip down and work out the mysteries without resigning my presently running 79 Bay to the scrap heap.
Has anyone got one kicking around that they would be glad to see the back of within say 40 miles of Halifax?
Badly damaged or burnt etc is not an issue as not looking for free parts but rather a chance to safely mess about.

I think the problem you'll have is not putting an engine together copying another engine, it's the gaps, shims, general movement etc. That you'll have problems with.

Possibly Razzy but I know how I learn best and I can only dare tinker so far with my own bus. If I understand how something is built i can go from there

 

You will be fine, some run hot but not too many

 

I think you'll need to read a book and get some measurement tools. I believe the internals are pretty simple really.

I understand where your coming from I also learn better when it's practical hands on
There is a video out there on how to rebuild a type 1 engine
It goes through each stage doing it and showing you
That would give you a good insight into it until you can get a practice engine

I can understand where your coming from....
I have just used my knackered case to practice taking the oil pick up pipe stud out and putting it back in. this was to make sure I could do it before doing it on the good engine and then loosing the stud into the case never to be found again and having to take the engine back out...
good luck finding a case....

 

I think @Dexter has the right idea. We encourage self help and learning on here. Hopefully an engine can be sourced.
