Distributor End Play

    Anyone know what it should be, I have renovated two, one has none and one has 1mm, Im not sure which is the best or correct,I could make one out of the two, if someone has a new one on the shelf perhaps they could have a look for me. Cheers Dave

    Should be less than zero, more than a lot. I would go for the one with a stack of spacers/washers holding the drive dogs down, and square rather than rounded off worn drive dogs.
    Basically it wants to press down into the drive shaft, with the little spring holding the drive dogs up a bit. End play less important than drive dogs extending far enough into the drive gear.

    Swapping the ends over is a nightmare unless you have a cradle on a vice for the drive dog part on the distributor shaft, so you can drive out the roll pin easily .
