The taste and sweetness is divine
Ive been starting off some of my veg seeds under cover this week and my onions sets will be going in this week aswell
The soil at the new place is brilliant quality and ive two large veg gardens to use :)
The guy who lived here before us grew veg in the garden for over 40 years and shared a lot with the folk from the village
Ive some big foot steps to follow in after what ive been told about the quality of his veg

Should it be a concern that we use so few types of veg?

I recall reading that in America, they found something like 25,000 different edible foot stuffs...the Europeans arrived and usurped many and replaced with easy to farm strains....I think we have something like 30 types of veg all of which might not cope with climate change (happy to be corrected on figures).

Maybe it's time to get radical in ze garden....

  16. Its a big struggle growing certain things with our climate and the short growing season in the uk
The victorians came up with clever ways to grow more exotic fruit and veg but it was very expensive and labuor intensive

  18. But the carrots he ate had someone elses blood sweat and pee in it:lol:

The growing of veg is as nourishing for the soul as eating it is for the body and theres a certain satisfaction to be had from peeing on a compost heap:)

As a modern first world country a lot of us dont have any connection with nature and even growing a few bits in pots can bring a great connection:thumbsup:
