It is madness, why not get a working cocker, quieter and better temperament than something with poodle in it, no yapping ether, not cheap around £600, springers £300 they are not first cross mongrels ether!

  9. I’ve been fortunate to have owned three amazing dogs. All from puppies. Without doubt the best thing I’ve ever owned in my life.

However I’d never buy another puppy as it breaks my heart to think of all the dogs out there that need a loving home. I give to the dogs trust and some of the animals they have for rehomimg are beautiful.

Loads and loads of my customers have rescues of all shapes, sizes and ages. Get down the local rehomimg centre. Your special friend is waiting for you there, you just haven’t met him/her yet.

  11. A quick search on dogs trust shows it’s far from just staffies looking for rehomimg.
They have lab crosses, collie crosses, jack russells, German shepherds, rotties, lurchers etc etc. Every size, shape and age.

If you think a cockapoo is expensive don't look at Boxers.

Not all rescue dogs come from the local rescue centre, and not all of them are a Heinz 57 if you want something a bit 'purer' (for want of a better expression).
Most dog breeds have their own rescue website, where there are many lovely animals looking for the right home if perhaps their original owners bought ill-advisedly, or just for a new home where previous owners have died or moved into sheltered accommodation.
Personally I've always had English Setters, and my four legged friend Harry came to me through English Setter Rescue after some tourists found him limping around a Greek island with a cut paw. They took him to a vet who patched him up, and sent him to a British lady who ran a stray dogs centre. She contacted English Setter rescue and they flew him to the UK. He'd obviously been chained up previously, and badly mistreated, but for a small donation to the charity I've been able to give him coming 10 years of the nice life he deserves. As and when I have to think about another dog (*sob*) I'll certainly go to English Setter Rescue first. It certainly won't cost me £900!

I do come across"failed" gundogs now and the, "failed" often means too steady and quiet and they are pedigree dogs, cockers springers and Labs, free to a good home, I may well post em up here next time!!!
