  1. Hi All
Been out for run in my VW T2 bay 1974
Was just Sat with it ticking over when engine cut out.
Tried to restart but it wasn't having it there is fuel in and turns over with ignition on.
    Any ideas.
    Cheers

  2. coil

  3. I think you will have to go back to basics
Check coil wires attached and then if spark
If OK check fuel to carb, try pouring a bit of fuel down carb first and if fires you know works.

Or if you have points the gap closed.
Or it flooded because it is set very rich at idle and / or the carburettor float chamber is overflowing.
Or if it has an aftermarket air filter it iced up and leaned out with a puddle of petrol instead of a suspension of fuel droplets ..

Start with checking for a spark. Then smell if it is very petrol smelly from the exhaust in which case a crank for 30 seconds to a minute pedal to the floor may clear it.
Or it might just start anyway leaving it for half an hour. If so its most likely flooding.

  6. Thanks.

1600? Was it fully warmed up? Did it stop dead without warning, or start spluttering, then died?

Check the wire to the idle solenoid first, then make sure that the choke is moving freely.

  8. Left overnight, started fine this morning must have flooded while idling somehow.
