Engine won’t stay running.

  1. Check the vac pipes! Mine was a similar problem (but Fi) and it was the one that went into the big rubber S pipe which had fallen out.....just a thought

  2. Cheers guys I’ve not had a chance to look at it again but if I get to it at the weekend I’ll let you know how I get on.

  3. Got half an hour on this today.
I checked the points gap and it was non existent so set that, sounded a little better but still not running longer.
Then it struck me that the HT leads looked wrong compared with other engine pics. So I’ve moved them to be 1-4-3-2 is the right for a type 4? It was 1-2-4-3.
Still not running for long but did seem happier.

Slowly picking off issues I hope.

  5. So not got much done on this as I managed to loose the keys :( But doing some digging into the carbs, I believe I should have 1xPDSI-2 and 1xPDSI-3 I seem to have 2xPDSI-3. Which is why drivers side (lhd) carb looks like it’s the wrong way round. Does anyone know it that going to be a problem?

I would say that as long as you can set the linkage so that they both open and close in a synchronised fashion, they should be alright. Have you cleaned them out and run it on new fuel from a can yet? If not, do that before anything else, as that may be all it needs.

  7. Took the top of the carbs and the drivers side carb bowl wasn’t filling with fuel but the other was. I think this as done to the way I had the hose routed it now seems to be filling.

Went to start it to try and see if that’s the problem and it won’t start at all. Charged the battery even though it’s only a couple of months old. Just turns over seem like no spark. Maybe coil?

So fed up with it at the moment.
