Fuel pressure regulator

  1. Ok, so who has one?
    What brand is it?
And where did you mount it?

    Photos would be appreciated.

I know the Malpassi filter king is a favourite but any one use anything else?
There's a multitude on fleabag ranging from £13 upwards.

    Cheers

  2. Malpassis are the only ones I'd trust. Ones like the EMPI job by all accounts just restrict the fuel flow, which isn't what you want. Malpassi do the PetrolKing as well, if you don't need/want the extra filter: they are quite big.

Before you splash out, worth measuring your fuel pressure to see if you actually need one at all.

  3. Yes, I thought that, but an inline pressure gauge is not a lot less than a Malpassi regulator, & half way to a filter king.

I'm a bit wary of cheap Chinese shyte, especially with petrol involved.

  4. I meant temporarily measure the pressure with a cheap gauge, then take it off again - you don't need it in place all the time. Just a one-time measurement.

I used an Empi one for years and it was fine.

You bought it years ago. When EMPI meant quality rather than blunt machine tools and pipework full of swarf.

  7. Must've slipped through their quality control. It won't happen again.

  8. If your using a mechanical pump
You can shim the fuel pump away from the case a bit to lower the fuel pressure

  9. Malpassi is quality and easy to adjust to your required psi, but as @snotty advised, you should get a cheap guage off ebay so you can set it accurately, guesswork is no good. you want a guage in a low range as your psi would be around 3 to 3.5

  10. One off fuel guage, good resolution.
Use a T piece and connect a clear tube and hold it up 3metres, 2.3m head should get you 3.3psi.

    Second that

  12. I fitted one of the £13 ones to my Honda Fireblade recently - I didnt fancy forking out £90+ for a genuine one. It also came in a fancy anodised finish, and has a gauge on it which I've mounted near my toe so when I overtake you on the motorway you'll think I've got NOS or some shizzle.

Cant speak for reliability yet, but it was adjustable and the gauge was very useful to do this - and I loves a bit of cheap bling me.
