Hi all... Could someone provide 3 pieces of v.basic info... 1. Where is the gearbox drain plug? 2. Where do I fill up the gearbox? 3.what oil do I use on the gearbox. I've never done it and think the bus would like it. Thankyou
Ensure you clean out all the dirt from where the allen key fits before undoing, undo the filler before the drain, if you cant fill it you dont want to drain it. Get something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BERGEN-H...106692?hash=item1ecfaaf604:g:mBAAAOSwG-1Zv69L
Drain plug is pointing forwards under the bell housing. As above, make sure you can undo the filler plug before draining the oil out, or you'll be embarrassed . Oil: boggo EP 80/90 will do, Castrol Syntrans is perfect, but more expensive. PS Post a pic of your drain plug hedgehog...
Pretty straightforward. Get a proper 17mm hex key or socket so you don't munge the plugs up. They can put up a fight.
I used a bit of plusgas on the four plugs on two boxes recently and none of the expected problems .... Started them all off with a lump hammer to the end of the ratchet handle but turned out to be overkill .... and put the handbrake on, the box in gear and maybe have some heavy chocks .... so you don't end up pushing the bus instead of opening the plugs!
