Have VWH still got some NOS ones ...i bought some and the difference is ...a lot . The rubber is nearly twice as thick and loads less spongy .
Worth getting in touch , quite a bit more money but worth every penny .

VWH seemed to have a lot of different kits varying from cheap boots to expensive CV plus boot kits.

I think though that the NOS ones were not available any more as I seem to remember a price of £48-£50 each.

Even the most expensive VWH CV joint plus boot was less than that .

I bought the Lobro ones from VWH. At least they had a makers name.

  9. I got my full kits when gsf had one of their rare sales. Post from 2016 when I did mine:

Website prices on GSF can be higher than in store, but just saved loads by using WKEND41 code and got free delivery as well

    Example
4 x GKN Lobro CV Joint kits. (Cheaper CV joints are available from others, but this is Proper German stuff)

    Website
£227.36 - 41% discount = £134.14 free delivery, plus i can return unused items too local gsf!

    In store
    £165.60 - 10% for being member of local VW club= £149.04

439VG0020 is the part number for 1 kit

Elsewhere 4 x GKN Lobro kit is £200 ish

  10. I think they must of put the price up again as they show at £88.10 each now and even with 57% off this weekend they come up at £151.53 for me. That annoys me with GSF as their prices fluctuate so much and go up as the discount voucher goes up, very dishonest. Saying that I always check as often they are cheaper despite that. Last weekend I picked up some glow plugs and a caliper for the golf as they beat everyone else. It changes weekly though!

The GKN joint kits from carparts4less come in at £133.33 at the moment with the code weekend14

Even worse the VWH cheap Lobros managed 3400 miles in 6 and a half months.. fitted Jan 2018..replaced June 2018. JUNK !

  16. Is it the joints themselves or the rubber boots that went?

Where did you get your replacements

The CV joints were swapped with GSF £20 ish ones 29 months ago . Still good..

I got VW brand boot kits in VW parts logoed boxes from VWH. They do have a 211- part number on the side although the top of the box says 235-

Cost £141 for 4 from VWH. Boxes marked with 2021/01 shelf life expiry date.
Contents of kit : boot, circlip for end of drive shaft and packet of grease.
    Still need bolts washers etc.

  18. My cheap J and R ones are about 18 months now, still good :)
