Heater concertina refurb

  1. Tonight planning on repacking heater pods was going to use roof insulation and mesh. Have stripped originals of old lagging and asbestos rings will look to see if I need gaskets on hx but will this insulation be better with sound deadening on concertina outer wall...

Don't use roof insulation in the concertina tubes , it will fragment ...then you will be inhaling small chard's of glass fibre which not a good thing in your lungs either .

What's wrong with the original wadding ...has it all disintegrated . otherwise clean up and re use .

I was fortunate enough to get an unused pair of concertina tubes ...i took off the asbo collers and inspected the wadding seems to be made of some sort of plastic fibre , bit like carpet under lay .

  7. havent original, been mislaid as had pipes years in garage. need something that wont choke us and heat proof. Maybe ceramic fibre blanket as dont want to melt Oem tubes.

    Google 2 stroke exhaust wadding.

This stuff is designed to operate in a hot environment (to reduce noise) and won’t poison you.
