My ex South African crew cab obviously had no need of a hot air heating system in its former home. It was missing lots of parts and the metal ‘Y’ piece and rear splitter were packed solid with compressed earth. Now it lives in chilly Blighty I’m trying to reinstate the original heating system. I’ve managed to renew / replace / repair everything from the engine as far as the metal ‘Y’ piece under the crew cab floor. To connect between the front of the ‘Y’ shaped heater pipe and the pipe going up to the totem pole I need about 4 feet of something with an ID of 70mm. Not sure what what was there originally but I can’t see anything of that size being sold by the usual VW parts specialists. Any ideas ? Thanks Stirlingmoz
You could use this! https://www.butlertechnik.com/insta...cting-75mm-id-102114340000-292100010025-p2130 Or similar
Thanks but I think it needs to be flexible hose to snake it’s way round the gubbins near the beam. Stirlingmoz
Thanks Dicky - that looks like it’ll work. Can even order in 500mm multiples so not too much waste. Stirlingmoz
80mm stainless flue fitted straight into front section and made y piece from 2 x 45 deg bends. simple push fit with internal seals so easily removable. on list to lag once sorted concertina bellows next week.
Any info or pictures of how you made your y piece as I am need to do similar. Most of the back part of mine is missing and to reinstate but I know getting a y piece on is really hard Looking for options on how to do this. Thanks.
will get pic tomorrow if ok. when did mine temporary 5 years + ago I fitted pipe, riveted and foil taped bends then used silicon flexis onto Hxs. seems to work fine but in process of sorting properly asap.
Best can do will be sorting rest in week so can get others if reqd flexis hanging till sort concertinas Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk
