How i insulated my main heat pipe -

  1. Nice! I patched a couple of holes up in the centre tube a few years ago and fitted a fan and did experience something not unlike what you describe Zed. Not sure when Im doing this but aim to swap out the exchnagers for genuine, insulate em, new control boxes, insulate the risers and replace the tube. Not sure whether to keep the booster fan. It seems to have become less effective and is very noisy so might look at whether its necessary. If it is an improvement I might have it blowing into the exchangers rather than pulling. Im not deeviating massively from standard but the biggest improvement will probably be getting the doors sealed which might be a big job as I cant get rid of the draughts!!!
