  5. looking forward to pics of yours the2ems - keep us updated :thumbsup:

    I took my measurements from the same lip in your pics, all my measurements were taken without any trim in place.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    I think the hole being off-centre makes it easir to loosen the later type of sender. The earlier (tube) ones have screws so better with hole directly above.

    Diddymen - if you can't get the sender out. please let us know. >:D

    The hatch I sent for is a bit bigger than I thought. I read the description as 6inch overall diameter, but it is 8inches overall, with 6inch access hole.

    Shouldn't be a problem though. But as predicted, I won't be able to centralise the sender front to back.

    When fitted, the cover screws into the outer, and has a waterproof seal

    Just got to cut it out now :-

    Still, on the bright side I was just saying to Mrs Diddymen the other day "wouldnt it be good if I had a hatch big enough to get my head into the petrol tank area" ;D

    Options are

    1. graft a bit back onto the floor and a new 'landing strip' along the new cut edge so the hatch opening is moved down by 3cm but still the same size

    2. weld on another landing strip along the new cut edge (yes I've checked I can still get it out :p) and buy a new floor cut to make a bigger lid

    I'm going for option 2 ::)

    for info - the sender is in the middle of the opening I have so I dont have to move it to the side, the measurements from the sides of the van are all good for any one else doing it, just make sure it is forward by about 3cm to the measurements I gave from the lip at the back of the bus

    ............any one have a floor cut they would like to sell me? :(

  13. Your cuts are very neat Diddymen. What do you use?

  14. thank you very much ;D

    I use a 5inch grinder with a thin fast cut cutting disk, I tried to do the little corner bits with a dremmel (well, nibbled it into a rough shape) then filed it by hand to finish off the corners.

    ......and thanks for not laughing this time :moon: :lol:

    I think I owe lhu1281 some more K+ for pointing out my mistake before it was too late!

    i havent tried to get my sender out yet, aaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh, but mine is a lever type so its easy peasy :p

  16. I didnt realise the sender would be one long solid bl**dy solid tube :eek:

    I assumed (wrongly) that it would be a float on the end of a rod like on my MG :( so would be easy to remove

    ......you live and learn ::)

  17. What a nightmare Diddy... I feel for you...

  18. thanks mate, its no big deal really.

    Just got to make a new cover which will be a bit bigger than the first one
