  1. I’ve taken one out. Are there any more?

    Didn’t think you needed to take the screw out as that’s only holding the wiring housing in. I think I took of the black housing around the key part of the ignition barrel, didn’t think I needed to though.

    @davidoft might have some ideas.

    Are you using a metal hanger and then using the key to turn and pull?

    Funny looking hanger, dry cleaners type is fine.

    Works fine for me

  5. The wire hanger is finding the hole and pushing the catch down no problem, but despite pulling the key and it being it the right position it just doesn’t feel like it’s going to shift at all.
    I’ll put it in the vice tomo and see if holding it steady and brute force will get it out!

    And for those of you who dont have metal coat hangers any more, there is galvanised fencing wire.

  11. I’ve had a break from it today, instead fitted butties throttle linkage, fitted new throttle cable and heater cables and cleaned up and refitted heat tubes.
    I’ll take column off this weekend and have another go. Cheers all for assistance. If anyone hears a dull thud all weekend it’ll be my head hitting a a wall repeatedly...

    I had one that was a right pain recently.. like you, I could feel the wire going in to the hole and pushing on the spring, but the barrel didn't want to budge. Long story short, pushing the barrel in before pulling it out allowed the spring to push in a bit further, releasing the barrel. I guess the spring was just catching on the housing a bit. Try that before pulling it all apart.

    I took mine of the column and also took the ignition switch (bit with the wires) off the back.

    mid you’re one fixed now, did the bits do the trick ?

  16. Finally got it off, had to drill it as totally seized.

    Anyone got an original one of these for sale?

    (With keys obviously! )
