bar stewards! Do you have a phone number for them? Or a way of tracking them down from where you picked them up or dropped them off. I assume it was a massive block of flats If someone tries it again ask for their mobile phone / expensive watch / partner to be left as a deposit until they come back with the cash
I’ve had some shiite jobs (lard unpacking; no that’s not a euphemism, and making polystyrene surf boards) and some decent jobs. Start a new one on the 22nd and time will tell which category it fits in.

I've been self employed as builder for 10 years now - keeps getting busier and busier it seems. At age if 42 my body is knackered now so currently planning retirement to the countryside and becoming a stay at home mum. Will take a few yrs to get stuff sorted out but after that I can start with the gossiping with the neighbours and drinking gin in the day time.
