Lost interest

  1. I seem to have found myself i a place that ive lost interest in the paravan
Its the longest vehicle ive ever owned and its always followed me along through mountains of life carp
Maybe it was a continuous norm for me and a figure of hope for the future
Nowadays its just in the way it feels

  2. i think stubborness is to blame if im honest

  3. stop the OCD painting of.....well, everything...get a ticket on it....use it for a bit....the love will return :)

  4. To be fair man, thats how I have been feeling for quite some time about mine..
But the love comes back, and then you wonder how it went away! Sometimes you just need to put it away for a while.

Alternately, get a bloody ticket on it and go hide in the woods for a bit, that will sort you out..

  5. If it runs good thats normal to lose interest .
Wait till it breaks down .! Thats when i get excited about it .....!
Its like a science experiment ..... Although a mad scientist can only want to own one of these things,

  10. That's partly why I'm selling mine don't use it fallen out off love with it and at the end off the day it's only a piece off metal.

  11. I lose interest in things after a few years, that's why I couldn't handle a 5 year resto!

I work as often as I can to get mine finished (really tough with a small family business and two kids) I'm getting there and can't wait to get it on the road before I get bored again.

Hoping this ones gonna keep me occupied longer as it's more of a Swiss Army knife vehicle than the exciting but one trick pony fast cars I used to be into.

I think your passion will return if you were getting away in it every month as that benefits your family as well as you which is always nice.

  12. I'm with Luis, you need to get it on the road and use it. Then, if you've still lost interest, at least the van is saleable.

  13. oh no not again..........
I the same with my kit car to be honest. You've got to start using it and realise why you have it. At the minute its a money pit sitting on the drive with a list of jobs. Hang in there when you're out and about with the family having a day out cooking some lunching looking out to sea/hills you will realise why you like it. Easier said than done and especially at this time of year when the nights are drawing in. Hang in there x

  15. You've been in this frame of mind many times now ....and you've got to take a long hard look why

you've always pulled through and carried on, but is this out of love for the bus, or, as you say out of stubbornness? .....only something you yourself will know.

Why did you get the bus in the first place? and is this idea still something you want, and is it achievable with your family life?

realistically, how far away from getting it on the road are you? as others have said, if you get an MOT and start using it you may stir up the feelings that made you buy it in the first place.

I think I know what you are going through, if you are like me, you want it 100% finished before you start using it, and you want it to 100% Paradox standard. That was what I wanted for mine, but, once I'd shifted my mindset to just getting it on the road it was a bit liberating.

I've got it MOT'd even though it is not 'finished' it's not got a camping interior but it has got a rear seat. Although I don't go out in it that often, I can if I want. I've taken it out a couple of times for picnics with the family or to fly kites and it's been great :) I'm now doing little bits as and when I can fit them in to get it more usable.

What do you want your van for? is it an escape from every day drudgery, something to help you and your family spend more time together, a 'fun' hobby, or something else - can your van give you what you want, can a different vehicle give you that? and if you get rid will you ever be able to get another vehicle that can meet your needs like an old VW?

If you really have fallen out of love with it, and it is a mill stone around your neck, then as Ricky said, it might be time for it to go, and it might be liberating ...again only something you can decide, but as @rickyrooo1 has also said, he still plans to get another some day to scratch that itch? ....is this something you will be able to do if you change your mind in a few years?

Why not mothball it for a year, some where out of sight and out of mind? cut your self off from anything old VW, don't work on it, think about it or look at it ......if you haven't thought about it, or wanted to work on it in that year then perhaps it is time for it to go, but at least it wouldn't be a rash decision

  17. A combination of all of the above. Stop being too subjective and get it as finished as you can if thats financially possible. Hopfully if you are less subjective it should work out cheaper. Once its there or there abouts then use it or you at least have an asset there thats probably worth good money so if it no longer fits the bill then either recucle your cash into other things or buy something newer thats done or indeed a t4 or something which, dependant on what you get should be within your price range even if it starts as a van.

You can still come on here and if you do go down the replacement route your mire likely to be able to get out camping on your own or with the family or indeed to TE and the like.

I regularly lose the love and if i hadnt had it as long would probably get shut and get something more sensible
