That's probably the way to go, I'll see what funds I have (new house and a new garage for Major & Gusbus to consider) The chassis etc is, as you say going to need a lot of prep work, which is why I am bitter towards the specialist that Dinitrol'd it, I didn't want to have to go through the process of doing it myself. However, we should have been more forceful when the rust started showing within six months of having the work done and I should have got underneath too. Still, we will have the satisfaction of knowing it will be done correct.
Right, the rear suspension and brake assembly is all removed, time to remove the Dinitrol or whats left of it, clean up and sort out properly. Torsion bar looks good though
Get yourself some comfy foam to lay on and something to use to support your neck and don’t forget the goggles You’ve a lot of scraping ahead of you but it’s well worth the effort
Well, we have found out why there is rust coming through in lots of places, we revealed this little lot under the wheelarches Undersealed: Paint (or lack of, revealed): So, its looking like the "so called" epoxy primer that was supposedly painted on any rust spots prior to Dinitrol treating was exactly that, supposed.
Nothing like doing something yourself when let down by others... Wheelarch has been Vactan treated, keyed up and POR 15'd. Much better, next up is stone chip and colour
I’d leave it for a while mark and keep an eye on that por 15 It has a habit of lifting and peeling over time
Gusbus has been fine, he was POR 15'd, stone chip treated and coloured, three years and its as good as the day it was covered
I dare not mention that again. Last time it was like mentioning the war to some Germans I used it also
Bloomin snow stopped play however, we have made some more progress along the way. Wheelarches have had two good coat's of stonechip: They have also had a couple of good coat's of Rustoleum and rebuilding the suspension and brakes is almost finished New brake cylinder and new donut bushes fitted too. The A arm bush is relatively new so we reused that and the brake shoes have only done a couple of thousand miles too, they where fitted the same time as the rear damper.
