New Forest and South Coast Road trip

Discussion in 'Hants' started by Broomers, Jan 20, 2012.

  1. Just a few pics. of my 2011 summer hols. We toured the South Coast from the New Forest to Dover in two weeks. Did 750 trouble free miles apart from locking the keys in the Bus one day ::) Stopped at four campsites. Long Meadow nr. Brockenhurst New Forest.- Blacklands nr. Brighton. - Park Farm nr. Bodiam Castle and the last one Little Switzerland at Folkestone. All great campsites would recommend them all. We had day visits to the Isle of Wight and France as foot passengers on the ferries. We went to a Medieval Siege at Herstmonceux Castle. Visited Lyndhurst, Lewes, Canterbury, Port Lyme Zoo, Brighton, Beachy Head, Portsmouth Historic Dockyards and Hastings. This year I`m going to try and have a few weeks on the Isle of Wight. :)

  10. Thanks for the comments yes great part of the world hopefully back this year for V-Dub Island. We went over to the IOW for one day from Lymington to Yarmouth really enjoyed it. Been before in 1986 but that was on my Lambretta to the Scooter Rally and in those days I didn't really bother about seeing the sights just partying lol :burp:
Yes love Castles and I will def. have a look at Carisbrooke.
Little Switzerland was great the walk to the Battle of Britain Memorial up the cliff face was amazing..not good if you don't like heights.
The New Forest was a first for me being down south I thought it would be packed and overrated but I was really surprised. We cycled for miles in the Forest and hardly saw anyone. The scenery was stunning.

I lived in Portsmouth all my life and hadn't been there until last year (29), got a 2 for 1 offer and for that price it wasn't bad - I think we take it for granted.

  18. We went to the historic docks a few months ago because my missus got the tickets using clubcard points, i quite enjoyed getting on the old boats, very interesting. Also turned out that once youve got your ticket its valid for a year, so you can have as many visits as you want. OK if you live nearby!

  19. Fantastic pics! Looks like you had good weather too!
