Ok, I know I'm going to regret asking this in the the danger of sounding stupid, but what in a nutshell is tech enders and where does it happen.

I'm guessing it's a job that needs doing on someone's bus and a few of you go along, lend a hand, share advice ect?

Sorry I don't get on here much. Too busy looking like that bloke in bed at the beginning of 'how to keep your bus alive-a guide for the complete idiot.'

    Thanks

    Paul

Techenders is a covert word for 'knees up' ...

Most of you know the score, but as an open event I'm mindful some of you reading this may not, so I'll start with a bit of an intro:

    What is TECHENDERS?
TECHENDERS is a meeting where (mostly) bay owners camp and fix/learn about their vans in a central location. It's a chance to ask all those questions you have, or just compare your engine and oily bits to someone elses. There is always plenty of assistance or back up from people who've probably done the job before.

    Where is it held?
    It's at victoria farm near Lutterworth (LE17 5AU) http://www.victoria-farm.org/

    When is it?
It's held twice yearly. You can arrive whenever you like, but most tend to arrive Friday afternoon / evening. Stay as long as you like (it's a working campsite).

    Who can come?
Anyone, including pets or kids - come to mess with vans or just come for a weekend break.

    What can i expect?
It's whatever you make of it. In the past we've removed, rebuilt, and replaced engines, or just helped people change a bulb. All we ask is you explain fully what you expect to do and do it early. There's no use saying "can i take my engine out" on saturday night.... Also, be aware we won't do your work for you; we expect you to get dirty and we can point you in the right direction.
If you do intend doing some spannering, don't forget a tarp or similar to keep oil off the grass!

    What about entertainment and food?
This isn't a vw show, it's just people meeting at a campsite owned by a vw owner who lets us use his facilites. There are no stalls or tat, it's just camping. There is usually a run to the local curry house for a feed Saturday night, and the local shops are 10 minutes away with a Morrisons etc. There will be a fully stocked bar in the heated barn. The site owner is a vw nut and has a 4 post lift which he usually lets us have use of if pre-warned.

    What will it cost?
I think it's £8 a night to camp with no hook up or £10 but I'll check this. We don't take any money, this charge is from the site. Electric is limited in the lower field although there is plenty in the top field if needed - you can always walk or drive down during the day. If you intend to use electric, please pay for it. At the last event, 4 people paid and 8 were plugged in. It's cheap so please do not take the pi55. Anyone taking advantage will have their rotor arm thrown in the lake.
There's no need to pre-book; just pay on arrival.
There's normally a full English available at £5 but again I'll check.

If i've missed anything, ask away. Plenty have been before and will answer questions.

Below try to make a list of who's coming and what they want to do, try to copy and paste the list now and again just for a rough idea on numbers for me to tell Eddy the site owner.
Try to update the list with your wishes of things to do and questions you'd like to get answered about the event. I know it's hard but let's try to keep it tidy, i like to give Eddy a rough number of people coming but don't worry it's not essensial - no cash up front is needed i just like an idea of numbers.

Although Techenders is publicised on the late bay, they do not endorse or have any say on the running of it. It's just a meet up. Techenders is owned by no-one and runs itself. It isn't "structured" so don't expect a timetable. If you want help ASK. A wise man once said "if you don't ask, you don't get."
If anyone wants to put this on another forum you frequent; go for it; or stick people's names on here.

Thanks again. Like most really good ideas it's very simple and you can't believe no one's thought of it before!
Might contact Rich of WBC to see if they could do something similar for those of us who dwell in the smoke.

    All the best

    Paul.

Don't be put off by the fact that it's located in the midlands... that's the whole point - everyone travels from all over to get there and make a weekend of it. It's a 350 mile round trip for me, and worth every mile.
