  1. Hi my name is Keith, and its been a while since I owned an aircooled VW, lots of water cooled, in fact I have always had a VW of some sort.

My first was a 1302s, which was sold because my (now) wife got stuck halfway up a hill one chilly winter day because she could not see out of the frosted windscreen, the second a 1969 Dormobile in fetching Ford salmon pink was let go because we had just moved house and I didn't have the time to fettle, this was all about 20yrs ago mind

I have now, in a midlife crisis frenzy, thrown myself wholeheartedly into aircooled ownership and did quickly aquire 4 Type 2s in various states of repair, the 1970 Devon has just been restored, but is going to go and we are concentrating on he 72 Continental 1700cc , the 68 bus is langaushing on the drive and is also being sold to make room for a late Beetle i hope, and another Westfalia has been passed on to a friend.

Currently , although MOTd the Continental is undergoing a minor makeover, nothing showwinning just preventative cosmetics, oh and a repair to the cab floor. Its got pretty much its whole original interior, and is relatively standard other than a CSP shifter, 34 Weber ICT with K&Ns 009 distributor and custom front seat covers.
I am planning to get some beige/caramel basket weave covers, replace the shifter with the original type and most likely change the carbs and dizzy back...asI am not sure there is mich performance benefit and it doesn't half eat fuel!

I want to aquire a panel van to use as my works van instead of my T5.1, or if I cna find one an aircooled estate. I don't do many miles as it mainly local work so its practicallity would suffice

So if anybody has a Beeetle, panel van or estate, and fancies a rather nice and original 1970 Devon caravette let me know....

    Howdy! :)

I read that as “my first was in 1302”
‘Blimey, you are old’ thought I :)

  10. Thank for the welome Gents..

I must just point out, that although I may be considered old I did not type magnolia! Beige yes, but not magnolia....I have no idea how that got there and would wish to distance
myself from any association with magnolia seat covers!

That's one of the quirks of TLB, we Moderators and Admins find it amusing to have certain words automatically changed.
