Paint samples

  1. Am planning a complete change of colour for my panel van Bertie. It's a lot of "panel" so want to get the colour right. Is there anywhere that supplies paint samples? Or colour cards that actually look like the paint colour?

    Cheers!

About all you can do for greatest accuracy is go to the chosen paint supplier and buy a single spray can of the chosen colour and prepare the a test panel then spray it the test panel.

Or find a sample of your most desired colour and get them to scan and match it and then do the test panel to check.

I would go for a stock colour from some car manufacturer or one with a RAL colour code that can be replicated in future.

Otherwise that stone chip will show up when your patch paint is subtly different or unobtainable..

"We decided to go for ground Lapis Lazuli with real gold leaf flake in the paint mix after we saw the sunset at Lands End"...

Or "instead of patina we decided on Egyptian Mummy paint" .. look it up..

  5. Yes, I was thinking of a standard colour... nothing fancy. It's just when I google the paint code... eg. L380 - some places it looks light, some quite dark! And that's photos of the paint on actual things. I feel like I'm entering a minefield! Ha!
    Tempted to just go... "white".

Look at a paint colour on 2 different screens and it’ll look hugely different.
The only way to know is to look vans in the colour you’re after.

  7. White can be a nightmare , talk to who ever is going to do your painting and hopefully he will help you and show you what it will look like . As said if you see a bus you like the colour of take a pic and show it to your painter . Why are you painting it , is it bad ? Looks ok ? I’d get out and enjoy it a bit ,before you get bogged down and miss a lovely spring and summer .gd luck .

Rainbow Paints in Westbury Wiltshire are hot on matching paints.

They supplied the paint for my headlight cowl/quarter fairing, which I sprayed. Matches the rest of the plastics well. Give em a ring.
