It was 5.5k for welding new doors and paint seven years ago. Say about 3k paint.

Oh yeah... no door seals left snapped window winder mechs.. nearly went bankrupt owners son hand in till to impress the girlies... destroyed the stereo by leaving it outside without a windscreen..... asked for stage payments for parts after cash flow issues... bought secondhand paint oven that cost more to fix than a new one...
Did other vans before bothering to fix ours...

I just paid the bill and drove it away as fast as possible never to return..

This was mine 9 years ago for ...fitting new front panel 2 door skins 2 front step wheel arches 1 rear wheel arch filling all dents ...all windows out .
Complete strip out inside for painting , two tone re spray in metallic red with white roof cost £6.950 labour alone .

I did not have this done was the previous owner .
From all the receipts i have got, the restoration cost including a full Kamper Shak fit out was £ 15.000 . I bought it on Ebay for £13.000 ....don't know how much he paid for the bus prior to all the work done .
All i know his wife did not like it and she said he had spent enough money on it and had to get rid of it because she couldn't see them using it enough to warrant any more money going on it .
I spent a further £2.500 on it, getting various running problems done .

  4. I personally prepped and got my beetle into prima recently (small car) I was a god 2 weeks solid before prima in prep so when folks say 4/£8000 depending on the prep (without any welding) I'm not surprised anymore the work involved is so time consuming and a bus is 3 times the size !! If it's not in bad nick u might be £3/4000 but again I payed £500 and now 4 years on it needs doing again (bus is used daily and does a lot of miles) so choose wisely when making ur decision , if ur handy like myself I tend to do it all myself just let them put the paint down but a booth ent cheap they cost thousands

  5. I have thought about spraying it must but I did the pop and its what my friend calls a 20,20 job . looks OK from 2o feet at 20 mph . I haven't got the patients for all the rubbing and more rubbing . I stripped it down yesterday and its going in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed I don't regret it

  6. Mmm thats seams a very fair price i am after painting one of my buses where about's are you ? And who have you been talking to about painting ?

1.5k seems very reasonable for an exterior paint job. I'd snap their arm off! Have you seen any of their previous work?

  9. I asked the Guys that did some repairs on my car and they quoted £2k for just a colour change on a transit sized van, so with scene tax its around 10k ;)
