  1. 17K. I was watching for the AH3000, which reached 55K.

Looking at the MOT history I wonder if whoever bid that much had seen it.
I wouldn’t pay that much for a bus that had advisories for rust.

  5. If it's been so well maintained, how come it failed an MOT recently with a lot of rust issues?

  6. I presume only the top bit was restored ?

  7. I'd hope not on a 'cheque book' resto, but who knows.

Did the sale include the gazebo to keep it dry inside?

  9. Yep and the belly pans to hide to the rotten crossmembers that weren't picked up on a chequebook resto!

  10. Well, what goes around, comes around. After another year pottering around the W Country, our van really does need a new home. We are building on our garden & the garage will go - the insurance Co insists that the van is garaged when at home. As some of the comments above indicate, we did put her into a vehicle auction - only about 10% of the vehicles sold (elderly Land Rovers were favourite) - even the E-type got no interest. We also tried a local auction, but she was the only vehicle there, so we were misled again. There was minor rust in the last MoT advisory - dealt with swiftly by Dan Munday of VW Busstop, Plympton, & passed on re-test. Oh - and she is a Silverfish - see birth certificate above. I am planning to put her on eBay, unless anyone has a better idea or wants to make me a sensible offer.

  11. It was a Silverfish, now it's a restored van with a non original interior.

What sort of money are you wanting?

  12. Is £25k stupid?

  13. Replacement engine & gearbox both under two years old.

  15. And I think you're being unduly purist - see VW Camper & Bus May 2010 - DUX 92T - "Uber rare '78 Silverfish" - a v similar interior to mine.

  16. We had a Silverfish in the shop for resto & did some welding/panel replacement......went to Morcambe & Wise for paint who ended up undoing all our work & replacing other panels & doing a full resto before they went bust.... Owner paid £63k to get it done & almost didn't get it back  I'm surprised he doesn't wear a clogg on his wotsit because they must have heard him coming!!

  17. Anything’s worth what someone will pay for it. Keep trying! No idea on what the markets stands to be honest and it was worth a punt at auction but that should ground you a wee bit. It’s not something I would buy (but I wouldn’t buy any vehicle for that money cos I’m poor and working class!)

  18. You’ve got to be kidding. A fool and his money......

  19. True! We had it for years, it was there well before I started 4 years ago. Bloke said he wasn't bothered how long it took... he came in the shop from time to time asking 'how's it going'.... It wasn't! We only did the welding etc end 2017/beginning 2018 because he was getting tetchy! It then went out to M&W for paint supposedly & they ripped him right off along with a few others Imo. We heard there were 35 vans outside their shop when they went pop! M&W guy was a member on here for a time & allegedly in the land rover game now, I don't know if this is the case?
