Star Campsite Alton - nr Alton Towers

  1. Nearest Campsite to Alton Towers to the best of my knowledge.

Just back from 5 days at this Camping and Caravan Site - the site is big at almost 200 pitches but is split into. Areas so didn't fel that big , not least as it was at 40 per cent capacity just before the August Bank Holiday. Due in part to the hefty pitch fees which I was told were being softened for next year.

That said it was a nice site with gently sloping pitches, spotless showers, toilets, and and fine children's play area. Staff were very friendly and attentive but the ' rules' are clear and enforced in an inoffensive way.

Pub 5 minute walk could be great but I fear it's heading for trouble as it was cash only and food was dear And there was two tier pricing for locals and visitors. Walk down to Oakamoor through the Valley and there are two other good pubs.

  2. Nearly stayed myself but prices are high so went to Hales Hall only a few miles away near Cheadle , had a great stay and the prices was good with a pub onsite and good facilities.
They have a semi permanent group of campers there that have an open mike and have a good laugh and you can join em . Went again in october for 2 nights with my mates and kids and sat up till very late ,log fire etc and drink .
