Keep us updated with any head gasket issues, I’ve got mine to do , went with genuine head gaskets and head bolts, though not sure if the bolts were really necessary.
I reused my bolts. But as long as you are using genuine bolts they will be fine. Make sure your new bolts you follow the correct stretch installation procedure
I’ve seen the sequence somewhere.... Did you get the heads checked, any skimming required? I’ve read the heads are often good to go if they’ve not overheated.
Yeah, tbh mine looked ok and didn't actually look like the gaskets had gone. But as I had it out and ready I've done then anyway. I just cleaned them up and whacked em back on. Soon find out!! Might do a new compression check tonight
Mine was running/driving without issues when I removed it, also forgot to do a compression test whilst it was in the car. Are you just turning it over by hand off the crank pulley bolt when doing your compression test, or using a gun?
No, I attached my spare gearbox and mounted a starter and did it with that. I am going to butcher a gearbox just for starters housing bit to make it even easier in the future
Think the oil leak on mine is from the gasket, hence do it all now whilst it’s out. Also picked up your block cheers, Has Nick sorted you with my mount, sump and alternator terminal rubber boot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And lo it begins again: All I have to do is take one out and put one in oh and swap the complete wiring loom. Don't think I will beat my pre dubfreeze 9 hours but I'll give it a go!!
Remind me, why are you doing this, was your previous engine kaput? Or you were a bit bored Seriously though I hope you get it done. I'm hoping to get a sump from Mr T this week and my exhaust flexibles have finally turned up so maybe exhaust this week as well after sump fitted.. I really hope
And it's all stop!! Flywheel pilot bearing is kabackered and the one in the other flywheel is for a later model gearbox so won't fit mine. Will just have a day sorting the wiring out tomorrow and pilot.bearimg on Monday
