Taken it back to the upholsterer who fitted my headlining. The adhesive hasn't worked properly and it's lifting around the edges.
Very apologetic and it'll be sorted Tuesday!

Mines lifted from the heat in France.

Need some glue that can take the temps!

He knows that mate. He's got a great rep and is fully booked until august 2018!
He was more annoyed than me by a country mile.

Ripped out a load of rotten Scotchlock connectors in the engine bay and replaced them with soldered joints wrapped in self-amalgamating tape then PVC tape.
These were for the towbar socket which I will be using for a light board on a bike carrier.

Then fried my brains because during the many years I have owned the light board somebody had turned one of the 5/21 watt bulbs round 180 degrees.
So both brake and tail lights were one dim one bright bulb.
Using a Sealey auto tester it was quick to blip power onto wires or check the voltage, found the swapped bulb.

Put half a litre of oil in it .

  7. Connected up my S and P connections on ignition switch, for future use.

    Easy job today.

Fitted a used and slightly grubby front badge.

It's a white one (as fitted to commercials) and genuine VW.

The crewie has its face back : - )

  14. not a lot...............
drained the oil as its done 200 miles after its re-build and what did I find.................
not a lot just a little bit of engine seal on the gauze filter but no bits of metal so all good. really pleased.
the oil coming out was not much different than what went in, you could of re-used it, it was that good.....

  15. We went for a spin down to stanmer park, just outside Brighton. There's a community project there that takes unwanted apples in return for freshly pressed apple juice. Donated 75kg of Bramley's and got 10 litres of juice and a warm fuzzy feeling that they did not rot on the ground like previous years.

Dropped it off at the upholsterer, went home, picked it up from the upholsterer.
Hopefully, the edges will stay bonded this time!

  17. screamed you T*** at it sorry for bad language very loudly.
the easiest of jobs can really naff you off..............
refitting the oil strainer and plate so i can refill oil and the bolt that holds the oil pipe inside the engine case just screws inwards when trying to fit the nut.
now the end of the thread looks damaged so thats not helping, has anyone had any luck with thread files to cut new thread into bolt or can it be removed completely without taking the case apart and a new bolt putting in.....
    oh what fun........

Got the dashboard refitted tonight and all of the wiring underneath almost tidied up, little bit more tidying to do, refit the radio and windscreen/windscreen wipers and that's the front panel sorted.
