It doesn’t fail for no number plate if it’s being imported

    oops!

    Alarms are funny things.

The wind made my bus send me this text message:

    help me!
    lat:51.0xxxxx
    long:-0.0xxxxx
    speed:0.00
    T:18/01/24 15:03

I checked - it seemed happily snug in its little home so I left it there.

No, you can get an MOT on the chassis number alone.

When we first got Major on the road, we drove to the MOT station on the US plates and they issued the MOT cert on the chassis number alone. Once we had the reg number, we then got the mot cert re issued by the DVLA on the issued registration number. DVLA Nottingham did it all for us.

I had the ‘no number plate’ conversation with the MoT tester this morning.

We discussed the chicken & egg scenario:

    • need a number plate to pass the MoT
    • need an MoT to get a number from DVLA

    Fortunately common sense prevailed.

He only went and passed - even on the emissions.

MoT issued on the chassis number.

Paperwork bundled up and in the post to DVLA.

It did - thanks for asking

Just waiting for the insurers to email me a certificate I can send to DVLA with the rest of the paperwork.

I was hoping to drive it to Volksworld so fingers crossed it all goes through smoothly.

Took it for a drive to dry off the condensation that had formed overnight and cleaned and polished the hubcaps that had become quite rusty over winter. They came up lovely just using a Brillo pad !

  15. I wish mine worked, but I have no understanding of the wires that are attached to it! I suspect they go nowhere in any case...

  16. I fitted a new switch on the dash ... easier than getting contact on levers to work...wiring was ok as far as I recall

  17. Thats not a bad idea ! I may look at that although I think a complete re-wire may be the answer. The multi-plug at the snail fan confuses me though...

Drove mine 15 miles with the oil warning light on..

Although I did stop 20 seconds after it came on to find the oil level was well up the dipstick and then after noticing the electronic gauge was still showing 10 psi when I turned the engine over on the starter, I started it up. 45psi running, 20 psi idle...
Turned out a wire had fatigued loose in the failsafe relay circuit I use attached to the 0-100psi = 0.5 to 4.5 volt electronic pressure sender . But then I broke a transistor off the PCB and then discovered that a manufacturer of robot boats has no transistors in junk boxes. Yes complete PCs, valves, pumps, linear actuators, power supplies..
